I believe that if we follow Marks suggestion, you will find that you
need to change syslogd.conf to log to /dev/vga also.  I found that the
system would hang when doing a reboot if my getty was running on /dev/vga.

As for other comments by Charles Hannum, 'who' has never worked
correctly for me.  Don't get mad for me not reporting this.  I figured
I had not quite configured something properly.
