1) When you say that the extract `died in random places saying there
was an unexpected eof ...', I assume you mean that the location of the
error varied, so you're sure it wasn't as simple as copying the files
wrong?

2) The ahb driver switches the card to `enhanced' mode automatically,
so it doesn't really matter how it's configured.

3) What are you using as a NFS server, what options did you use to
mount it, and are you certain it was exported correctly?

4) You said an `Adaptec 1740'.  Is it really a 1740, or a 1742 with
the floppy controller `disabled'?  The floppy controller on the 1742 I
have interferes with any other floppy controller, even it's
`disabled'.

5) When you were assigning the partition sizes, what units did you
use?  If sectors, did you make sure to round to a whole cylinder
boundary?  (If you don't, FFS will fall over.)
