This may happen if you configure a second multiaccess interface with the
same local address as another, or two point-to-point interfaces with
the same destination address.  It is sort of a half-bug, half-"feature"
in the networking code.

Are you trying to bring up two PPP or SLIP sessions with the same remote
host?
