Well I often do things like this:

chmod -R g+w .

I understand why you wouldn't want do absolute chmods, but relative
(i.e. add or subtract permissions) is often useful.  Anyway, I still
do find -exec chmod commands at times as one can want to have more
control over the selection of the files to change.
