ep ist "_E_thernet from Herb _P_eyerl", a driver for (one of) the 3com
chipsets (3c509(isa), 579(eisa), 589(pcmcia), I guess 595 ist the pci variant)

iy is for Intel i82595 chipset, which has no relation to 3com 3c595.

As for the name: iy is i(x+1), and the FreeBSD people named the
etherexpress (without pro) driver ix. We name that one errr... ie?
