I think there are probably a majority that hate 8-space tabs, but most
of the code is written using them, and I don't think it's worth it to
reindent all the code at this late date.   I also don't think it's
worth it to have a mixed style, except to the extent that we have it
now.

If you look through the kernel code, you will find instances where
when nesting gets too deep, suddenly the indentation under an if goes
to four or even two spaces in order to make it all work.
