db/        miscellaneous automatically generated system-specific
		database files

I certainly don't consider that the contents in /var/db/pkg are
'automatically generated'. In the sense that kvm.db is for example.

If you want to change the definition to include semi-permanent
things, then I'd think /var/db/cron might make sense.

(If I haven't got the point across yet, for me this isn't about
where cron should live, but about what our definition of /var
is.)
