Subject: adding packages...

Here's my newfound problem.
I want to install packages on a slow machine. The packages have
dependancies.
For example, let's say I want to install windowmaker. It'll install
fine - but it won't auto-install all the prerequisites, because it
assumes that, since it couldn't have built without them, they must be
installed. I don't want to re-run the compiles, though.
Any ideas? Is this a common enough problem to care about?
