The gzipped patch is >8 MB long. I doubt it will be "fun" to get this

Yes. NetBSDs routing is getting a little bit too basic.
Even something like a very simple bandwidth control would be quite usefull
for me...

(E.g: A few days ago someone here opened an FTP server on his machine (I guess
for mp3 swapping) and this server was eating up ~70% of our bandwidth until
I blocked some of its connections with IPFilters. Something like this is
not a real solution for me...)

The "Projects Using HFSC" page is quite interesting:
  At ETH Zurich and Washington University, researchers of the Router Plugins
  project designed and implemented a high performance, modular, extended
  integrated services router software architecture in the NetBSD kernel. Code
  modules, called plugins, can be dynamically added and configured at run
  time. HFSC is being used in this architecture as a packet scheduling
  plugin.

I searched ETH's webpages and found something that seems to be the homepage
of the project: http://www.tik.ee.ethz.ch/~ipng/rp/

I guess the project is dead now, the page is quite old (last update
Aug 1998) :-/.

I wonder if anyone from those projects has ever contacted TNF...
