i built mine without it, and it's makeing me very happy. my site.def
file has (because i stupidly didn't put it in the host.def file,
although that seems to matter little)

#define GccWarningOptions -Wall
because (1) i wanted it in a different place than the regular stuff
(all i really need is the server anyway, (2) the aperture driver works
just fine, and (3) i was getting way too many warnings and errors with
just -Wall. those are at the top of the file, not the entire
contents.
