Until recently, I used two Lucent Wavelan Gold cards, one
in my laptop, one in a router box as home network. Turned on
WEP, and all was fine.
I now have a Cisco Aironet AP for loan, and while things
work great without WEP turned on, I am unable to make the
Wavelan and the Aironet cooperate with WEP enabled.
I have tried the obvious (fill key up with zeroes, use
shorter key, use key 0x111111111... to cater for possible
byte order problems) to no avail.
I think when I tried the Lucent card on a Windows box
I could not establish a connection either, but I didn't
try very hard. However, I had similar problems with a laptop
running linux, which could not connect until I turned off WEP.
Currently, I think something is broken wrt setting the WEP
keys in the wi driver. Any ideas or experience reports?
