Eric, I had a similar problem with what appears to be
a very similar hardware configuration. It's not clear
what the solution was, but I think a bios update from
my motherboard manufacturer may have cleared it up. I
have an ECS K7VZA. There was some problem with the
chipset that could have been causing it so I just
upgraded it. I also reformatted the filesystem that
the problem was occurring on, because I think the
initial problem started during install when the
filesystem was formatted. I haven't seen the problem
since I've done this.
