On a current system you'll have to add tabs to the lines if make says
"missing seperators" and you have to run autoconf and automake at first.
This did not happen when I was using 1.5.2. The Makefiles seem to be
incompatible with new make.

The easiest way is probably using the pkg which was comitted by Alistair
Crooks recently.
