| 80 Gig SATA Seagate ST380013AS 8MB cache $137.00
|
| Not sure if this is the "cheaper" ATA model but it doesn't have 2 MB
| cache. But it does have the 13 suffix.

As I said, the cache size is irrelevant. It's the warranty length
that matters to me. According to the 7200.7 datasheet
http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/discsales/personal/family/0,1085,587,00.html
the ST380013AS has 1 year warranty (and none have 3 year warranty).
According to the ATA V datasheet
http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/discsales/personal/family/0,1085,572,00.html
the only drive with 3 year warranty is the ST3120024A.
I could have purchased the ST3120023A for ~U$10-20 less, but decided
that three times the warranty was worth < 10% purchase price.
However, your priorities are probably different to mine.
Luke.
