I saw what I believe to be identical behavior on my I-Opener (Trident
CyberStorm or some such graphics controller), and it would manifest itself
when using either Netscape 4.7 or Opera. What fixed it for me was disabling
"ShadowFB" in the X server.
I'd recommend focusing your debugging on the X server, as suggested by others
here, but maybe also see if you can get any other apps to show the same
symptoms (specifically, try Netscape and Opera under Linux emul).
