Which is what is supposed to happen.

It's actually not. With your patch is only pulled later outside the
control of the "compat framework" which works now but might cause
problems later. I've therefore fixed the problem differently in
revision 1.48 of "src/tools/compat/compat_defs.h". Please let us
know whether that works for you.
