netbsd-7 installation quirks
Quirk 1: ACPI regression
I tried to install netbsd-7 (amd64) on a machine with a supermicro
H8DME-2 board. Both the install kernel and the GENERIC one froze hard
after
1. Boot normally
2. Boot single user
3. Disable ACPI
4. Disable ACPI and SMP
5. Drop to boot prompt
Choose an option; RETURN for default; SPACE to stop countdown.
Option 1 will be chosen in 0 seconds.

requiring a reset, breaking into db was not possible.
With acpi disabled, the install kernel got to USB configuration before
it froze; this could be fixed with a BIOS update.
The machine ran Debian 7 and netbsd-6 (i386) without any problems even
before the BIOS update, and a fresh netbsd-6 (amd64) installation went
flawless (apart from sysinst not knowing what to do with a gpt
partition table ;).
Quirk 2: gpt support
When installing on a gpt(8) partitioned disk, sysinst appears to not
run 'gpt <disk> biosboot', leaving the system unbootable.
Cheerio,
