    Thanks to MONS for addressing these:
    - rt 39183 fallback to Clone::PP if needed/possible
    - rt 43056 OO support for more sane behavior non-trampling

    This version is a cleaned up version of MONS' patch in rt 43056 plus:

    Added tests for OO behavior.
    Cleaned up POD a little
    perltidy
