You are requiring magic for no need. Just make the default 52 53 and
drop the explicit compat line. Do not make this more complicated than
necessary, especially at a time when fallout should be avoided.
It would already have been easier if PHP finally moved to proper
separate package names and not continued with the idiotic range
overload.
