The reason we introduced bsd.prefs.mk in the first place was so that
there was one inclusion of one well-known file, and including the
"fast" version (especially in ocaml packages) seems to get away from
the sense of just having one well-known file, and not really being
worth it in terms of time.
I'll go and book Thomas in for his re-education course.
