   How well was this tested? It is creating problems at least for
   libreoffice, see e.g.

Was icedtea updated to work officially with OpenJDK8??  When I looked
last, the javaws script has this hard coded in it:

JAVA=/usr/pkg/java/openjdk7/jre/bin/java

Now, as a matter of fact, I did alter this to use openjdk8 manually and it
worked fine for my particular use case.
