Is it a linux binary ? If so you've probably a problem in your linux
binary emulation setup; you should have some symlinks in
/usr/pkg/emul/linux/dev:
rochebonne# ls -l /usr/pkg/emul/linux/dev
total 0
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 10 Jan 9 2005 dsp -> /dev/sound
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 9 Jan 9 2005 null -> /dev/null
