I don't use it myself. But I read recently on a DragonFly list:
> pkg_chk -P ftp://binary/url -abg (generate pkg_chk.conf if nonexistent)

The -P sets PACKAGES and code has support for http://|ftp://.">ftp://.">http://|ftp://.
