On 3.0/i386, with up-to-date pkgsrc HEAD, I tried to build xscreensaver.
I first got:

Warning: these catalogs were not installed:
         ca pt_BR
...
ls: /usr/pkg/share/locale/ca/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo: No such file or
directory
ls: /usr/pkg/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo: No such file

which caused the 'make package' (and pkg_tarup) to fail:

pkg_create: can't stat
`/usr/pkg/share/locale/ca/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo' pkg_create: can't
stat `/usr/pkg/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo' tar: Unable
to access share/locale/ca/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo (No such file or

share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo (No such fi le or directory)
tar: WARNING! These file names were not selected:

share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/xscreensaver.mo
pkg_create: /bin/tar command failed with code 1
(pkg_create: exitcode 2)
