Make sure you are using the Linux bash shell. I symlinked /usr/pkg/emul/linux/bin/bash to /bin/bash (what a sacrilege!) to avoid editing all the scripts in the package.
Goodness! :) But I thot for a linux program, the kernel would automagically map all requests for "/bin/bash" to "/usr/pkg/emul/linux/bin/bash" right?
