problem with gettext-tools in autoconf-link-lib/configure

When building this on NetBSD-current/i386, if I have
PREFER_PKGSRC="iconv gettext" defined, building gettext-tools fails
because of an inresolved symbol in libintl.so in
autoconf-link-lib/configure.  I can't figure out why this is
happening. :(

Any ideas?
