   I believe this is the same problem I have encountered. It's ooooold
(pre-modular-xorg). I had to go to my university just to draw some
simple pictures. :-(  I believe I filed a PR; I also believe Tobias
Nygren provided a work-around patch. I did debug it more thoroughly
after I filed the PR, but I currently can't remember what the problem
was exactly.
