apache-tomcat rc.d script broken

The rc.d script shipped with pkgsrc/www/apache-tomcat55 is broken:

# /usr/pkg/share/examples/rc.d/tomcat onestart
$tomcat is not set properly.

For some reason, the rc.d script itself checks for the value of $tomcat (if
checkyesno ${rcvar} with local checkyesno() function), while there is rc.d
infrastructure to do this, which also allows to temporarily skip this check
(onestart).

Is there a reason why the apache-tomcat rc.d script does this differently?
