I always had problems with NetBSD clients, until I found this post:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-users/2010/08/14/msg006702.html
I've now installed both 5.1 and 5.1_RC2 as clients on a Pentium 4 box
running Ubuntu - without the --norawr0 option both the installer and end
system would die during boot, but after invoking the VM with that option
it's been up for days and cross building a NetBSD evbarm-el system with
zero problems. ((obv) hint: VBoxHeadless works with that option if too,
not just VBoxSDL)
