pkgsrc does a good job at hiding the build files on the host system
and using build files from pkgsrc instead for a consistent
and reproducable builds. It uses wrapper scripts, custom paths,
and the "buildlink" framework to help this. Have a look under
your work directory's dot (hidden) directories.
