Thank you for the report. I have tested only on NetBSD-6.
The freetype detection in the configure script is rather
convoluted and broken and I already had to patch it to
work there.

1) Where is ftheader.h installed on -current?

2) Please provide output of this command:

grep FREETYPE_ $(make show-var VARNAME=WRKSRC)/build/*/spec.gmk
