Re: jabberd (1) deletion?

Anyway, for minimal environment its jabberd 1.4 the way to go. Please
keep it.

Does anyone use, know anyone who uses, or has heard a rumor that someone
uses jabberd 1.4.2? The distfile is dated July 2003, and it seems
almost everyone has migrated to jabberd2.

If you are using it, it's probably worth updating the package to
1.6.1.1, released in June of 2012. Volunteers?

I dimly remember trying to update from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4 and finding it
harder than migrating a server to jabberd2, so I gave up.

Hi Greg,
I have jabberd-1.4.2nb9 running on my server. There is a good reason for
it - it has (as far I remember) no dependencies, just a C-code. The
versions from 2.x on need SQL and Haskell(?).

For minimal systems its definitely 1.4 the way to go.

A couple of weeks ago I helped some guy on the jabberd mailing list. He
ran into troubles compiling jabberd 2.0 and was perfectly happy after I
told him to use the antic 1.4 version.

Please keep it!
Thanks,
herb langhans
