This allows a similar model but is different.
1.) Currently CVS is the true source.
So if you want to use git you can (with joergs conversion etc.) - but to get changes back to cvs there is the helper "git-cvsexportcommit“ that I described.
2.) Maybe at one point we will have a git repository as the true source.
To continue to using cvs client tools for work on that repository a "git-cvsserver“ could be started.
I have not tested git-cvsserver yet, so I can’t really comment on how well it works. But if it indeed works as advertised I believe it could offer a nice migration path to git that should make most people happy.
