In light of that, I'd like to replace the existing pkg_tarup package with a much lighter weight shell script (attached) Benefits of this over existing one: 1. much smaller 2. doesn't rely on a single type of digest (that being MD5) 3. doesn't require user to be root when running tarup 4. doesn't try to do multiple things In fact, I'd like to see it made into a proper make(1) target, rather than a separate entity, but small steps, lots of them. Please don't be put off by the size - it's really just settiing up the argument list for a single pkg_create invocation.
