With root on NFS and all other file systems null-mounted from local
disk, the system still gets stuck in the same place.

I'll have to see about arranging a full local-disk installation.

The same machine builds qt3-* and qt4-* packages without problems
running its local-disk install of i386-8.0_BETA with native Xorg.
