Hi,
Presently there are three vte packages delivered under x11: vte-028 (under x11/vte), vte029-032 (x11/vte029) and vte-038 (under x11/vte3). As the first and the third deliver the same package name with different versions, they cannot be installed at the same time (even if their contents do not intersect). Some terminal emulators require vte-028, others - vte-038 (I haven't found yet one to use vte029). After having installed lxterminal and terminator, which use vte-028, I initially couldn't install xfce4-terminal and mate-terminal, as they use vte-038. I was able to do so by renaming the package delivered by vte3 - as vte3 - and patching the configure scripts for the emulators.
I wonder whether it's worth getting this into pkgsrc, probably not many people would want to have all these emulators installed at the same time, perhaps it is nice to have terminator along, say, mate-terminal.
