I completely overlooked it, partly due to the mixed case in the name.

My package, wip/openblas, was derived from the FreeBSD port, which is 
fairly mature, using wip/fbsd2pkg.  wip/OpenBLAS is much simpler, with 
only one patch and no options.

I tried a quick build on NetBSD 7.1 and it got stuck in a loop:

tar: File extended headers posix ustar archive. Extracting as plain 
files. Following files might be in the wrong directory or have wrong 
attributes.

I'll see if there's something in there that openblas lacks and also take
