www/w3m-img image rendering over ssh -X

Is w3m-img expected to render inline images on a remote server over ssh
with x11 forwarding?

In my case, the remote server is NetBSD 8.0_RC1 amd64. Same configuration
of local machine.

X11 forwarding is working fine as I can launch other X11 clients on remote
machine.

Did a general search. Some threads in Linux claim that this works on rxvt.
I tried rxvt, urxvt, xterm, uxterm etc but it did not render images.

Some threads say WINDOWID variable needs to be set. I checked it on local
machine using xdpyinfo, though setting it did not help either.

Please share your experiences if anyone has got such setup
working/otherwise.
