I have the same issue I believe.

Opening preferences looks like this:

[calBackendLoader] Using Thunderbird's libical backend
console.debug: "Successfully loaded OpenPGP library librnp.so from /usr/pkg/lib/thunderbird/librnp.so"
console.debug: "public keys: 0, secret keys: 0"
console.debug: "0 protected and 0 unprotected keys"
JavaScript error: chrome://messenger/content/specialTabs.js, line 1051: TypeError: Cc['@mozilla.org/updates/update-manager;1'] is undefined
console.debug: "Successfully loaded OTR library libotr.so.5 from system's standard library locations"
Error: No such tab mode: preferencesTab

openOptionsDialog@chrome://messenger/content/mailCore.js:558:21

Opening account settings works:

JavaScript error: chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js, line 311: TypeError: gFolderTreeView._treeElement is undefined
console.error: (new TypeError("this.paneViews is null", "chrome://calendar/content/today-pane.js", 96))

I believe something is missing. I just upgraded to 9.99.73, updated pkgsrc 2 days ago and build + pkgin upgraded my system within the last hour.

Starting with a new .thunderbird folder does not change the treeview issue or other glitches.
