Stepping back, I would comment that Apple has only released hardware with the new CPU type a month or two ago, and therefore many projects are going to take a while to address it, to the extent it needs addressing. I think it's perfectly ok that it takes a while, and that pkgsrc is troubled on this brand-new platform until upstreams have actual releases that are ok.
