I've set the SCO-recommended env vars as follows:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/xdev/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
LIBPATH=/usr/xdev/lib:$LIBPATH
MANPATH=/usr/xdev/man:$MANPATH
PATH=/usr/xdev/bin:$PATH
MAKESYSPATH=/usr/xdev/share/mk/

But I still get the following:

I'm not sure where it's going awry, beyond the old Unix Bourne shell 
being a jerk.

What magic sauce did you use to get it to bootstrap?
