It's used.

However, lang/rust/platform.mk assumes that Rust is available
on _all_ SunOS, not just x86_64 illumos. Unfortunately we don't
have any bootstraps for Solaris on SPARC.

I just fixed this, so lack of Rust availability on Solaris SPARC
should now be reflected in trunk and it will properly pick the
non-rust versions of packages.
