Absolutely - some sites that build their own packages from pkgsrc
always set PREFIX to a value related to the pkgsrc branch, and then
just make /usr/pkg a symlink to the desired branch name (making sure
to use the pkg_install related binaries from the right location to
install/update packages as needed)
