Announcing the pkgsrc-2023Q2 branch
The pkgsrc developers are proud to announce the 79th quarterly release
of pkgsrc, the cross-platform packaging system. pkgsrc contains over
27,000 packages, with varying support across 23 distinct operating
systems. More information on pkgsrc itself is available at
https://www.pkgsrc.org/
Since the pkgsrc-2023Q1 release, 287 packages were added, 55 removed,
and 2763 updates (to 1918 distinct packages) were processed. These
included 11 Go, 128 Perl, 610 Python, 226 Ruby, and 414 TeX package
updates.
For the 2023Q2 release we welcome the following notable packages
additions:
- gcc 13.1.0
- gcc-libjit packages
- ffmpeg 6.0
- many tree-sitter grammars
- mailman 3.3.8
We welcome the following notable updates:
- SQLite 3.42.0
- certbot 2.6.0
- CMake 3.26.4
- Firefox 114.0.1
- HarfBuzz 7.3.0
- LXQt 1.3.0
- matrix-synapse 1.86.0
- NodeJS 20.3.1
- Rust 1.69.0
- TeX Live 2023
- trac 1.5.4
As always, many packages have been brought up to date relative to
upstream micro releases. Examples include:
- Firefox ESR 102.12.0
- Go 1.19.10, 1.20.5
- MATE [some core components updated]
- NodeJS 16.20.1, 18.16.1
- PostgreSQL 11.20, 12.15, 13.11, 14.8, 15.3
- Python 3.7.17, 3.8.17, 3.9.17, 3.10.12, 3.11.4
- qgis 3.28.7
- Qt6 6.5.0
- Xfce4 [some core and plugin components updated]
This branch we say notable goodbyes to:
- lang/npm (merged into nodejs)
- Ruby 2.7
Changes to the pkgsrc infrastructure and notes:
- Note that many packages do not build on NetBSD 8 and other systems
with non-recent compilers. Users who wish to run these programs
are advised to update to an up-to-date version of their operating
system.
Instructions on using the binary package manager can be found at
https://pkgin.net, and pkgsrc itself can be retrieved from via CVS or
tar file, and also from a mirror at https://github.com/NetBSD/pkgsrc.
