I understand your concern, however the chromium codebase is giant. You
are right that simple /OpenBSD/NetBSD/ can cause worries in the
quality, but I think the working OpenBSD (and FreeBSD) package is a
good starting point to port chromium to NetBSD, and keeping close as
possible to a common codebase make easier the maintaining.
At this moment I'm playing with sndio, because with pulseaudio
sometimes I hear crackles, and I have issues with initPulse. The best
resolution, I agree with you, should make a native audio backend to
chromium.
