Hello everyone,
I've posted a couple of times in the past about some problems with sound & Bad Vcc requests for the cardbus adaptors.
At the moment, I've got Mandrake Linux 8.2 on this machine (long story - gnash wail). When it boots, dmesg reports some interesting stuff about the PCI bus kit and IRQs, which might explain my sound problems. Basically, the following messages appear ...
Linux version 2.4.18-6mdk ... (Mandrake Linux 8.2 2.96-0.76mdk) ...
...
PCI: Using IRQ router VIA [1106/0686] at 00:07.0
Applying VIA southbridge workaround.
PCI: Disabling Via external APIC routing
...(much later)...
Via 686a audio driver 1.9.1
PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:07.5
IRQ routing conflict for 00:07.5, have irq 5, want irq 10
IRQ routing conflict for 00:07.6, have irq 5, want irq 10
PCI: Sharing IRQ 10 with 00:0a.1
PCI: Sharing IRQ 10 with 00:10.0
ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: 0x4144:0x5348 (Analog Devices AD1881A)
via82cxxx: board #1 at 0x1000, IRQ 5
(00:07.5 is the sound board; 00:07.6 is an associated WinModem.)
NetBSD 1.5.2 seems to happily settle for IRQ 5 and not get into the IRQ routing business, with the result of repeated looping 0.5 second segments of sound.
I fully intend to get NetBSD back onto this machine some time soonish, so the question is - does -current do this IRQ routing ? Or will I give up sound to get better control over what is running on my laptop ?
- Tony
