$ I fully intend to get NetBSD back onto this machine some time soonish, so the question is - does -current do this IRQ routing ? Or will I give up sound to get better control over what is running on my laptop ?
-current and Lennart Augustsson's acpi patch may help you.
His patch have helped me for my Libretto L3 USB IRQ routing.
I'm happy.thanks again to Lennart Augustsson.
his patch is below:

How about trying next:
- apply his patch to -current.
- put next line in your config file.
acpi* at mainbus?
- rebuild your kernel and try it.
Regards
