I just installed 2 NetBSD-current boxes last night. Each had/has a different
oddity - both are running a GENERIC kernel (rev 1.492):
after a sysinst, there was no /usr/lib/libm387.so.0 -> libm387.so.0.0 link
in /usr/lib. (strange is it worked on "the second one")
One box would not boot with "partition table invalid" after an fdisk -i, but
work fine with an fdisk -B. Is it possible that there is a problem with
/usr/mdec/mbr and not mbr_bootsel? Fixed the problem by disklabeling with
/dev/wd0a offset of 0 rather than 63 ie., no mbr.. (strange as it worked on
"the first one")
(first one is a 100 MHz P54C, second one is a 1.5GHz Pentium 4, so rather
different generations)
Just a little rant..
Cheers,
Patrick
