what kernel options do you use?  i am using these, plus more:

include "arch/ofppc/conf/GENERIC"
options         DEBUG
options         LOCKDEBUG
options         DIAGNOSTIC
options         KMEM_GUARD_DEPTH=0x1000

which is probably necessary for this.
