I installed the 1.5-BETA on an ULTRA 1 with a lance ethernet chip
(10Mb/s).
When i telnet to the to the Ultra from a PC running Freebsd, The netbsd
system does not seem
very responsive. I noticed I have an increasing retransmit counter on
tcp (netstat -s) on
both the Freebsd and the netbsd machines.
I also tried to spray ping the netbsd box (ping -f) and it is almost
looseless.
Anybody else that have experienced the same thing, or is it something
with my setup.
This is a known DMA issue with machines that have streaming
buffers (basically anything better than a UltraSPARC IIi).
These issues should be fixed in the current sources and
the 1.5-beta kernel.
Yes, I know that we need a more recent -current snapshot.
But it's unlikely I'll have time until after 1.5 ships, and
maybe not then either.
